"What happens when the character of a city and the rhythm of everyday life become the foundation of a mall’s architecture?
Located in the heart of a 42-rai mixed-use development, Central Nakhon Sawan is more than just a retail destination—it is a cultural landmark that reflects the identity of the region. Designed by INTEGRATED FIELD, the project embraces the city’s unique Thai-Chinese heritage and its storied geography, using architecture as a storytelling medium.
Inspired by the atmosphere of a Chinese village, the design centers on a bold visual gesture: a “Big Roof” that defines the entrance and creates a sense of familiarity, warmth, and local pride. The roofline is not merely decorative—it becomes a narrative device that invites visitors into a world where modern commerce meets cultural memory.
Inside the mall, the design continues to draw from the city’s most iconic element: the confluence of the Ping and Nan rivers, known locally as Pak Nam Pho, where two distinct water currents—often seen as “two-colored rivers”—merge to form the Chao Phraya River. This natural phenomenon is reinterpreted through the spatial flow, textures, and zoning of the interior, shaping circulation and visual language throughout the space.
With a total GFA of over 76,000 sqm. approximately , Central Nakhon Sawan serves as a symbol of unity—a place where tradition and modernity, culture and commerce, people and place, all come together. Every element of the design, from facade to flooring, from roof to river, echoes this core idea of convergence.
By distilling the essence of Nakhon Sawan into built form, the project demonstrates how architecture can speak the language of a city, not by copying its icons, but by honoring its soul."
