"Kokulo Beach Club is a beachfront restaurant and bar surrounded by pines, reefs, and a canal within its local community, located in Khaolak, Phangnga, Thailand. With a panoramic view of the beachfront as the starting point, this project was aimed at creating a place where both visitors who come to dine, drink, think, or chill, as well as people staying in the hotel rooms at the back, can all enjoy themselves with this beautiful view.
To prevent the beach club from obstructing the view from the hotel residents, we tried to erase the back of the building by using the lawn on the ground as a continuous roof, which makes the wall seem to ""disappear."" On the other side of the roof, a space was created that fits the program and links the activities with nature, integrating the building with its surroundings. The shape and space of this beach club ""appears"" to the sea. Each area under this green roof has different characteristics to suit its activity.
The main dining area was designed to feel like having a meal in your vacation home, with an eclectic look represented through a long kitchen counter station, while the dining space is set to be comfortably loose, open, and flexible for various activities.
The bar, located closer to the beach, is designed to reflect the natural aesthetics. The glittering ocean surface and horizon are reflected in the mirror wall, allowing the bar to blend seamlessly with the surroundings.
The top of the triangular lap pool is flattened as much as possible to be the same level as the beach, creating a seamless boundary with the ocean while swimming.
With all the design approaches mentioned earlier, Kokulo Beach Club aims to offer a relaxing, blended-in experience for people who come to visit."
