A Taste of Italy, A Touch of Legacy
"Isola by Signor Sassi brings a beloved Italian dining experience from London to Bangkok, introducing the spirit of la dolce vita into the heart of the city. As a franchise of the iconic Signor Sassi under the San Carlo Group, the challenge for INTEGRATED FIELD was to reinterpret the restaurant’s signature charm while weaving in a fresh local perspective.
The design concept was simple yet deeply evocative:
Dining at the home of an Italian host.
To capture this feeling, the restaurant is divided into two distinct yet harmonious zones—indoor and outdoor—each designed to evoke a different scene from a leisurely Italian lifestyle.
Within the indoor zone, set inside a shopping mall, we created a space that feels like an outdoor pavilion nestled within a lemon orchard. A glasshouse-like structure filters in natural light, blurring the line between inside and out, and inviting guests into a warm, sun-drenched atmosphere. Lemon trees and gentle shadows recreate the feeling of dining under the Mediterranean sun.
Transitioning from the mall entrance, guests are welcomed into a more intimate blue-walled salon, painted with mural-style illustrations across both walls and mirrored surfaces—invoking the layered personality of a lived-in Italian home.
Connecting the two zones is a yellow walkway, reminiscent of sunlit hallways in old Italian villas. This passage is more than just a link; it leads diners past the heart of the kitchen—open views of the culinary action, framed by walls adorned with vintage-style portraits and memorabilia. These references pay homage to the original London location, where photographs of celebrities and patrons line the walls—a visual legacy that continues here in Bangkok.
