Reframing the Frame: A Renovation Rooted in Trust and Teamwork
"XO PANYA began as an extension of a design character we had previously established at Sindhorn Tower and Amata City. But unlike those projects, this one brought us back to a much older structure—a modest house built with a rare platform framing system, a construction method not commonly seen in Thailand.
From the start, there was something unusual about the house. During early design stages, we suspected—based on subtle signs and faint memories from first-year construction classes—that the structure might lack the usual columns and beams. Our structural engineer wasn’t entirely convinced, so we asked for a detailed site inspection.
Sure enough, once we started dismantling the walls, it all became clear. Everyone—the architect, engineer, contractor, consultants, and even the client—was surprised not only by the structure, but also by how far termites and humidity had compromised its integrity. The gravity-defying courage of the house was almost admirable.
This discovery set off a new chapter in the project. We had to completely reimagine the structural design and rethink the construction sequence—all while preserving the core vision. It was a challenge that tested not just technical knowledge, but also the strength of collaboration. What could have been a major setback became an opportunity for the team to pull together, solve problems creatively, and stay focused on a shared goal.
At one point, the obstacles felt overwhelming. But gradually, light emerged—one small solution at a time. And in those moments, we were reminded:
