ถ้าหาก… การออกแบบสถาปัตยกรรมมีส่วนช่วยในการรักษาฟื้นฟูได้
จะเป็นอย่างไร ?
คำถามเหล่านี้เกิดขึ้นหลังจากที่ IF ได้รับโจทย์ที่ท้าทายจากวิสัยทัศน์ของ Arak Animal Hospital ที่ต้องการสร้างมาตรฐานใหม่ให้โรงพยาบาลสัตว์สาขาใหม่ใจกลางทองหล่อแห่งนี้เป็นสถานที่ที่เป็นมิตรต่อสัตว์เลี้ยง, เจ้าของ และทีมสัตวแพทย์ รวมถึงมีการบริการที่ครบครัน ทั้งการรักษา, การพักฟื้น และบริการเสริม ได้แก่ Grooming, Pet Hotel, Pet Pool และ Cafe’
จากโจทย์ข้างต้นผนวกกับเทรนด์ปัจจุบันที่ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์และสัตว์เลี้ยงแนบแน่นขึ้นเหมือนเป็นหนึ่งในสมาชิกของครอบครัว ( Pet Humanization Trend ) IF จึงตีความความสัมพันธ์เหล่านี้ผ่านสถาปัตยกรรมโรงพยาบาลสัตว์ด้วยแนวคิด “Healing Through Design” ซึ่งเชื่อว่าการออกแบบที่ดีสามารถช่วยเสริมสร้างประสบการณ์การรักษาที่มีคุณภาพ ผ่านการออกแบบสภาพแวดล้อมที่เหมาะกับการฟื้นตัว ( Healing Environment ) และคำนึงถึงพื้นที่ทางจิตวิทยา ( Space Psychology ) ที่ช่วยให้ทั้งสัตว์เลี้ยงและเจ้าของรู้สึกผ่อนคลายและปลอดภัยตลอดการใช้บริการ หนึ่งในปัจจัยสำคัญที่ส่งผลต่อความผ่อนคลายได้แก่ การเข้าถึงแสงธรรมชาติและการระบายอากาศ ซึ่งนอกจากจะส่งผลดีต่อสภาพจิตใจแล้วยังช่วยลดการใช้พลังงานในอาคารได้อีกทางหนึ่ง
โดยสามารถสรุปแนวคิดในการออกแบบเป็น 3 หัวข้อได้แก่
1. Healing – การออกแบบที่ช่วยบำบัด
2. Comfort – พื้นที่ที่เอื้อความรู้สึกสบายให้ทั้งสัตว์เลี้ยงและผู้คน
3. Environment – การสร้างพื้นที่ที่ช่วยให้สัตว์เลี้ยงและแพทย์ผ่อนคลาย
นอกจากแนวคิดในการออกแบบข้างต้นแล้ว โปรเจกต์นี้ทาง IF กับทาง Arak Animal Hospital ยังได้ทำงานร่วมกันโดยใช้ Co-Design Approach ตลอดกระบวนการ เพื่อให้แน่ใจว่างานออกแบบสามารถตอบโจทย์ได้ในทุกมิติ

Being in Harmony
What if… animal hospitals had rooms for pet owners to stay overnight with their pets ?
What if… an animal hospital could feel as comfortable and reassuring as home ?
What if… architectural design could play a role in healing and recovery ?
These questions emerged when IF took on an exciting challenge from Arak Animal Hospital, which envisioned setting a new standard for its latest branch in the heart of Thonglor. The ambitious goal is to create a pet-friendly hospital that caters not only to animals but also to their owners and veterinary staff, while offering a comprehensive range of services—including treatment, rehabilitation, grooming, a pet hotel, a pet pool, and a café.
In response to this vision, combined with the growing “Pet Humanization” Trend—where pets are increasingly considered part of the family—IF translated this relationship into the architectural design of the hospital through the concept of “Healing Through Design.” This approach is based on the belief that thoughtful design can enhance the healing experience by shaping an environment conducive to recovery ( Healing Environment ) while also considering the psychological aspect of space ( Space Psychology ) to ensure that both pets and owners feel relaxed and secure throughout their visit.
A key factor influencing relaxation is access to natural light and ventilation, which not only has psychological benefits but also contributes to energy efficiency within the building.
The design concept can be distilled into three key principles
1. Healing – Architecture that supports the healing process.
2. Comfort – Spaces that accommodate both pets and their owners.
3. Environment – A setting that fosters relaxation for pets and veterinary staff.
Beyond these core ideas, this project was developed through a Co-Design Approach, a collaborative process between IF and Arak Animal Hospital, ensuring that every aspect of the design fully meets the needs of all users.
