ถ้า F.I.X. Coffee มาตั้งอยู่ที่ Neilson Hays Library จะมีความพิเศษต่างไปจากที่อื่นอย่างไร?
F.I.X Coffee ร้านกาแฟแบรนด์ไทยที่มีสาขากระจายอยู่ทั่วกรุงเทพฯ แต่ละแห่งมีการออกแบบที่สะท้อนเอกลักษณ์ของสถานที่ตั้งแตกต่างกันอย่างชัดเจน และในครั้งนี้ IF ได้รับโจทย์ให้ออกแบบสาขาใหม่ของ F.I.X Coffee ที่จะตั้งอยู่ภายในพื้นที่ของ Neilson Hays Library ห้องสมุดอายุกว่า 100 ปี ที่ออกแบบโดย Mario Tamango สถาปนิกชาวอิตาลีผู้ฝากผลงานออกแบบอาคารสำคัญในไทยไว้มากมาย เช่น สถานีรถไฟหัวลำโพง หรือ วังบางขุนพรหม เป็นต้น ที่นี่จึงเป็นหนึ่งในอาคารประวัติศาสตร์ที่ทรงคุณค่าบนถนนสุรวงศ์ เขตบางรัก จนถึงปัจจุบัน
ด้วยบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์อันยาวนานและมีค่าของพื้นที่ โปรเจกต์นี้เรามีความตั้งใจในการบอกเล่าเสน่ห์ของพื้นที่เดิม ผ่านการออกแบบที่เชื่อมโยงบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์เข้ากับพื้นที่ใช้งานในปัจจุบัน ถ้าหาก Neilson Hays Library เป็นพื้นที่ส่วนหนึ่งของชุมชนบางรักมาอย่างยาวนาน เราก็อยากทำให้ F.I.X Coffee สาขานี้เป็นส่วนต่อขยายเพื่อส่งต่อบรรยากาศดั้งเดิมให้กับชุมชนบางรักในปัจจุบัน

An Extension of the Past
What makes F.I.X. Coffee at Neilson Hays Library different from anywhere else?
F.I.X. Coffee, a Thai coffee brand with branches spread across Bangkok, is known for tailoring the design of each location to reflect the unique character of its setting. This time, IF was commissioned to design a new branch within the grounds of the Neilson Hays Library, a century-old landmark designed by Italian architect Mario Tamagno, whose works include Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong Railway Station and the Bang Khun Phrom Palace. Standing on Surawong Road in Bangrak, the library remains one of the city’s most treasured historical buildings to this day.
Given the site’s rich historical context, the project aims to celebrate the charm of the original space by weaving its architectural legacy into a contemporary coffeehouse experience. If the Neilson Hays Library has long been a cultural anchor of the Bangrak community, then this branch of F.I.X. Coffee is envisioned as an extension—carrying forward the atmosphere of heritage into the present-day rhythms of the neighborhood.
