ในการออกแบบอาคารของ Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives โดยมีเป้าหมายคือการสร้างสถาปัตยกรรมที่ส่งเสริมความงามของทะเลมัลดีฟส์อย่างถ่อมตัว ตลอดระยะเวลาที่ทำโปรเจกต์นี้เราได้ค้นพบวิธีต่างๆ ในการสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถาปัตยกรรมและธรรมชาติดังนี้

เราอยากให้แขกที่เข้ามาพักรับรู้ถึงธรรมชาติอย่างไร้รอยต่อ เราจึงเลือกใช้วัสดุธรรมชาติ หรือวัสดุที่มีความ Rustic เพื่อให้ได้ผิวสัมผัสเหมือนอยู่ในธรรมชาติ เพื่อสร้างความต่อเนื่องทางความรู้สึกไม่ถูกแบ่งแยกระหว่างภายในตัวอาคารและธรรมชาติ

เราอยากให้ทัศนียภาพโดยรวมของรีสอร์ทมีความกลมกลืนกับบริบท เราจึงออกแบบ Form อาคารให้มีความลื่นไหลไปกับธรรมชาติ ลบเหลี่ยมมุมที่แข็งกระด้างออก และผสานเข้ากับวัสดุพื้นถิ่น และวัสดุธรรมชาติอย่างไม้หรือใบจาก

เราอยากให้แขกที่มาพักได้สัมผัส หาดทราย ทะเล และแสงแดดตลอดเวลา เราจึงออกแบบอาคารให้มีความเปิดโล่งให้บรรยากาศภานอกไหลเข้ามาในอาคารได้ตลอดเวลา รวมถึงมีการออกแบบ Skylight เพื่อให้ได้แสงธรรมชาติ และเป็นการนำเสนอมุมมองของท้องฟ้าผ่านสถาปัตยกรรม

เราอยากให้แขกที่มาพักได้เห็นวิวทะเลมัลดีฟส์ที่สวยแบบไม่เหมือนใคร เราจึงเลือกวางห้องพักในทิศที่ได้รับวิวที่สวยงามแบบไม่บดบังกันและกัน และใช้ตัวสถาปัตยกรรมเป็นกรอบภาพที่ถูกเลือกมาแล้วอย่างพิถีพิถัน

ตลอดช่วงเวลาทำโปรเจกต์นี้เราได้ค้นพบและเรียนรู้การอยู่ร่วมกันระหว่าง มนุษย์ สถาปัตยกรรม และธรรมชาติ อย่างสมดุล  ยังคงรับรู้ถึงธรรมชาติรอบตัวตลอดเวลา ในขณะเดียวกันก็รู้สึกมั่นคง ปลอดภัย และอยู่อาศัยได้อย่างสบายใจและมีความสุข

Human • Architecture • Nature

In designing the architecture of Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives, our intention was to create a built environment that humbly enhances the natural beauty of the Maldives. Throughout the course of this project, we discovered multiple ways to shape meaningful interactions between architecture and nature each one guided by a shared respect for context, materiality, and human experience.

We wanted guests to perceive nature without interruption. To achieve this, we selected natural or rustic materials those with raw, tactile surfaces that echo the textures of the environment. The aim was to foster a sensory continuity, blurring the line between indoor space and the surrounding landscape.

We envisioned the overall form of the resort as something that would blend seamlessly into its context. To this end, we designed architectural volumes that flow with the natural terrain, softening hard edges and integrating local materials such as wood and palm leaves to create a harmonious visual language.

We wanted guests to truly experience the sea, the sand, and the sun—not just see them. Buildings were designed to be open and porous, allowing the outdoors to permeate the interiors at all times. Skylights were introduced to draw in sunlight from above, making light a central and ever-present architectural element.

We wanted every guest to encounter the unforgettable views of the Maldives in their most pristine form. Rooms were oriented with care, ensuring that each one captured a unique, unobstructed perspective of the sea. Architecture, in this case, becomes a carefully curated frame—offering not just shelter, but a chosen view.

Over the course of this journey, we came to deeply understand what it means to live in balance—between human needs, architectural expression, and the rhythms of nature. Even when sheltered, one continues to sense the world beyond. One feels protected, yet open. Comfortable, yet connected.
