บ้านหลังนี้สะท้อนมุมมองการอยู่อาศัยของครอบครัวคนรุ่นใหม่ ที่ตั้งอยู่ภายในพื้นที่ส่วนรวมของครอบครัวใหญ่ และออกแบบเพื่อรองรับผู้อยู่อาศัยเพียงสองคน โจทย์ของ IF คือการตีความบทบาทของบ้านหลังเล็กให้ตอบรับกับวิถีชีวิตของผู้อยู่อาศัยอย่างแท้จริง ทั้งยังให้ความเป็นส่วนตัวในระดับที่เหมาะสม

เราเลือกจัดวางฟังก์ชันของบ้านออกเป็น 3 ส่วนหลักแบบสลับจังหวะ โดยออกแบบให้แต่ละส่วนทำงานร่วมกับบริบทรอบด้าน ผนังทึบสีขาวถูกเจาะช่องเปิดในตำแหน่งที่พอดี ทำให้บ้านยังคงรู้สึกนิ่ง สงบ แต่ไม่ทึบตัน

ในส่วนแรกคือพื้นที่ชั้น 1 ซึ่งถูกนิยามให้เป็น Semi-Private Space พื้นที่ที่เปิดหรือปิดความเป็นส่วนตัวได้ตามโอกาส ฟังก์ชันหลักประกอบด้วยห้องนั่งเล่น โต๊ะทานอาหาร และพื้นที่เตรียมอาหาร การจัดผังเน้น Circulation ที่ไหลลื่นและปลอดภัย เพื่อให้การใช้งานของสมาชิกในบ้านสอดประสานกันอย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ

ถัดขึ้นไปคือโซนห้องนอน ห้องน้ำ และ Walk-in Closet ซึ่งให้ความสำคัญกับความเป็นส่วนตัวเป็นพิเศษ แต่ยังคงเชื่อมต่อถึงกันอย่างสะดวก ห้องนอนรับแสงธรรมชาติในระดับพอดี และตั้งอยู่ไกลจากถนนสาธารณะ เพื่อลดเสียงรบกวนและสร้างสภาวะการนอนที่เหมาะสม ห้องน้ำได้แสงธรรมชาติเต็มที่ ลดความอับชื้นและปัญหาเชื้อราที่เกิดขึ้นในพื้นที่ปิด

ส่วนสุดท้ายคือห้องทำงาน พื้นที่ที่ออกแบบมาเพื่อรองรับทั้งการใช้สมาธิ และการพักผ่อนสำหรับสองคน โอบล้อมด้วยผนังทึบที่เจาะช่องเพื่อกรองแสงธรรมชาติเข้ามาอย่างนุ่มนวล ช่วยปรับอารมณ์และลดความเครียดจากการทำงาน ทั้งยังทำหน้าที่เป็น Facade สร้างความเป็นส่วนตัวให้กับพื้นที่

ท้ายที่สุด บ้านหลังนี้สะท้อนแนวคิดของ “ความพอดี” ผ่านการจัดวางพื้นที่เท่าที่จำเป็น และเว้นช่องว่างในจังหวะที่เหมาะสม เพื่อให้แสง ลม และความสัมพันธ์ในครอบครัวไหลเวียนอยู่เสมอ

Measured Living

This house reflects the living perspective of a new-generation family. Located within a shared compound of an extended family, it is designed for only two residents. IF’s design brief was to reinterpret the role of a compact house to truly respond to the occupants’ lifestyle, while maintaining an appropriate level of privacy.

The house is organized into three primary zones, arranged in a deliberate sequence that responds to the surrounding context. Solid white walls are punctured with carefully positioned openings, allowing the building to feel calm and serene without becoming enclosed.

The ground floor is defined as a semi-private space, where privacy can be adjusted as needed. It accommodates the living area, dining space, and food preparation zone, with an emphasis on smooth and safe circulation to support natural daily use.

The upper level contains the master bedroom, bathroom, and walk-in closet, prioritizing privacy while remaining functionally connected. The bedroom receives controlled natural light and is set back from the public road to reduce noise. The bathroom is naturally lit, helping to minimize humidity and mold.

The final zone is the workspace, designed for both focused work and relaxation. Filtered natural light enters through openings in solid walls, supporting comfort and reducing stress, while this layer also acts as a façade that enhances privacy.

Overall, the house expresses the idea of “appropriateness” through providing only essential spaces and introducing voids at key moments, allowing light, air, and family relationships to flow throughout the home.
